Import/Export Issue

Import/Export Issue 11 Years, 8 Months ago

I am in the process of moving from Joomla 1.5 to 2.5. I have have used the jupgrade process, though this did not include MediaLibrary. So, I installed the 2.5 version of MediaLibrary Pro, and it is running fine. However, I am having problems importing from the Joomla 1.5 site.

If I try a full export and import, I get the following error on import into the Joomla 2.5 site:

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 2 SQL=INSERT INTO j25_medialibrary_categories (mediaid, catid) VALUES

This error appears at the top over 100 times. All the categories are imported, though they are no longer in the hierarchy as originally set up. None of the media is imported.

So, then I tried using the XML import instead. When I do this, it appears to successfully import. However, when I check the categories they are all wiped out. There is also no media imported. Instead there is just the message that says to create a category first.

I have about 140 entries, and I hope I don't have to put them back individually!

Thanks for the help.

Hello,

You need do XML import/export for move data from old site to new, and after that recove "covers" folder
{yours site}/components/com_medialibrary/covers

Please do XML export for one book from old component and export one book from new component
and open these files in some text editor. As example in "notpade" and compare.

There are small different in XML file structure, compare these 2 files and you will see

so you will need edit file what you take from old version - and import it to new version

Thanks,

Thanks for the help.

I added categories and a book to the Joomla 2.5 site and then did a full export. I then did a full export from my Joomla 1.5 site. I opened them both up in a text editor (Text Wrangler) and did a side by side comparison.

Once I saw the differences, I ran a search and replace for all the code that needed to be changed. This took a little effort, but after doing it, I successfully imported all the categories and media. All I had to do then was put back some of the categories into their proper sub-categoires (they did not all come out as subcategories).

I moved the images, and everything seems to be working great.

Thanks!

Yes, that is what I did. I first did as you suggested - exported one book from the old and new to compare. When I saw the difference, I did a full export from each site to also compare. I saw the differences on both sides, made the changes to the XML file exported from the Joomla 1.5 site and imported the edited file into the Joomla 2.5 site and it worked just fine with all the changes. That way, I did not have to import every category. The full import recreated all the categories and imported all the media. As I mentioned in my first post, all I had to do was put some of the subcategories back under their parent categories. All the media were still in their correct categories. So, everything imported fine and seems to be working great. Thanks!
