Thanks for your investigations. It is then clear it is not a RM, server or Joomla 3.x problem and must be a browser problem.

I checked and it works fine in Chrome.

Further investigation finds that this is a known problem within Firefox, which has a current bug in its handling of MIME types for pdf.

There is no simple solution/workaround to this other than use a different browser, until Firefox cure the bug.

This is NOT a RM problem.
