I was wondering if it would be simple enough to change the search module to a horizontal layout instead of vertical.

Hello,

because in search module - very much possible options what you may hide from admin setting. for horizontal layout - it may look not full good - for some setting.

So you need self check code and change layout for all fields what you need
or you my order custom version from us with all features what you need. Custom version with all features you may order with help OrdaSoft Support form
