For yours version Vehicle manager, you may do that :
1. Create search request in Vehicle manager for example for 'a', Create External menu item - with link to search result, set that menu as default home page
2. Move all cars to some one category, Create menu item for that alone category, set that menu as default home page

hello!
1. Seems like a great option, but it does not work. The problem is that I can not define a External menu item to be my home page. Joomla does not allow this.
2. Almost there! I want the cars to appear in their respective categories. Is there another way I can do this without putting the cars in a single category?

Hello,
You may try for external URL - try rewrite joomla index.php or .htaccess file, for redirect from home page to some other page
