Language module selector BUG or How to ? 5 Years, 5 Months ago
Karma: 0
Hi guys,

Joomla 3.8.13 default Frontend language Spanish es (default Backend language English en)

SEF Translate 4.2 (free version for pre sale tests here develop.egulp.net/ )

Component
Gneral > Site Language: Spanish
General > Use bing or Google API for translate: Bing
Map > Translate page on Site Map: Chinese_simplified, English, Italian
Map > Use cache for Site Map: Yes

Module
Module > Module position: default
Module > Translation Method: Instant
Module > Language List: Chinese_simplified, English, Italian

1 - Spanish is the Joomla default language, the selector language should be Spanish, while is in English. Please, How to correct it ?

2 - When I select, for example, Italian, the selector switch into italian, but not all the words ! In this italian case for example "Inglés" is shown that is Spanish, while should be "Inglese". (Something wrong happen quite with all languages).
Please, How SEF Translator selector is managed ? How to correct it ?

3 - The "Default" module selector layout should always have the option to add small flags before language names (on the left or on the right depending on language RTL), like the joomla language switcher has.
This is a must, too useful to always understand languages also in other languages.
Please, Can you help me on how to add flags into selector ?

4 - Last but not least, may be the most important thing. How to come back to the Joomla default language ?
If I click on "Select a language" nothing happen. If I click on my logo template (home page) nothing happen.
Please, A bug or Am I missing anything ?
In my opinion, the most obvious and simple way should be to change the "Select a language" words with the default Joomla frontend language. Where clicking on it the site is shown with its Joomla default language without the SEF automatic translation.

Hi Admin,
as I wrote here ordasoft.com/Forum/Joomla-Translate-comp...ort/39764.html#39854 we want buy the Commercial Joomla Translate version, but we need to understand how do you manage Support and what you consider "BUGs" included on it and what kind of development have you reserved for the application.
We need to solve these issues. Most of them for us are"bugs", but may be they only depend from our ignorance.
Anyway, Please, Can you answer to all questions and give us more informations/instructions ?

1 - Spanish is the Joomla default language. Italian is the chrome browser language.
Joomla > Plugins > System - Language Filter: enabled
Joomla > Plugins > System - Language Filter > Language Selection for new Visitors: Browser Settings.
Unexpected behaviour: the Site is opened in Spanish, the Joomla Translate selector language is in English.
Joomla Translate should follow the Joomla > Plugins > System - Language Filter > Language Selection for new Visitors: Site Language / Browser Settings setting, where:
- when Site Language is selected, Joomla Translate selector language should be the Joomla default language opening the default language Site, Spanish in this case;
- when Browser Settings is selected, Translate selector language should follow the language browser one (if present) opening the automatic Joomla translate Site in that language, Italian in this case;
For us this is a BUG, Please, How to correct it ? Do you have any idea on why its happening ?

2 - Tested on both Bing and Google Translate: when I select, for example, Italian, the selector switch into italian, but not all the words !
In this italian case for example "Inglés" is shown (that is Spanish), while should be "Inglese". (Something wrong happen quite with all languages).
For us this is a BUG, Please, How Joomla Translator selector is managed ? How to correct it ? Can we correct them through the Joomla Languages Override feature ?

3 - The "Default" module selector layout should always have the option to add small flags before language names (on the left or on the right depending on language RTL), like the joomla language switcher has.
This is a must, too useful to always understand languages also in other languages.
Please, Can you help me on how to add flags into selector ? Do you have any suggestions/instructions ?

4a - Last but not least, may be the most important thing. How to come back to the Joomla default language ?
"If your site default language " Frontend language Spanish" , You need include( show) Spanish in SefTranslate module."
I added and seem to work. Logically when I click to Spanish the Joomla default site is shown without any automatic translation, Am I right ? Please, Can you confirm it ?

4b - In my opinion, the most obvious and simple way should be to change the "Select a language" words with the default Joomla frontend language. Where, clicking on it, the site is shown with its Joomla default language without the joomla automatic translation.

About 3 and 4b, we have to consider to task them to our external developer to solve them, may be building a "personalized" "Module position layout".
Please, Do you have any API / documentations / instructions / suggestions to do it ?

Many Thanks for your attention and your help on understanding...

Dear

Please check
SefTranslate is component for Joomla site translate(ordasoft.com/sef-translate-joomla-translation-component), it is very complicate component 90% percent users use 10% component features.

YES, in sef Translate possible add new features(many new features), but every so feature depend from Translate API, Client site, extensions on client site, client hostings, how user configured site. So you may order so features, but because SefTranslate very complicate, adding so features not cheap. but you may order this.

1 - Spanish is the Joomla default language. Italian is the chrome browser language.
We not support "browser language"

2 - Tested on both Bing and GTranslate: when I select, for example, Italian, the selector switch into italian, but not all the words !
This is Automatic API, but in Pro version - you may edit translated pages.

3 - The "Default" module selector layout should always have the option to add small flags before language names
I am sorry, we haven't so features, may be in new version we will add this

4a - How to come back to the Joomla default language ?
You need add default language to languages list. I am sorry, but very bad if you can't configure software exactly as you wish and somebody(PC) every time show language which you not added

"Select a language"
We created "Select Language" as default HTML Select tag, this tag not support images, It not support click by default, for change it - you need select something,
This is default HTML Select tag - so it not so beautiful, but it will work on any device and will not conflict with any your extensions.

Dear Andrew,
thanks for your reply. In first of all, Yes I red SEF Translate documentation before to post in the forum.
I'm writing here because I was not able to find nothing about.
Sorry, my English is not so good. Please, try to answer to all questions step by step or I'm not be able to completely understand you:

1 - Following my example were: Spanish is the Joomla default language. Italian is the Chrome browser language. SEF Translate should perform all translations. My test site is a simple one page site (Helix Ultimate template + SP Page Builder Pro)

1A - Joomla > Plugins > System - Language Filter: ...Should be enabled or disabled ?

1B - My unexpected behaviour is: the Site is opened in Spanish, the SEF Translate selector language module is in English.
If SEF Translate do not support the browser language, the SEF Translate selector language module should always be opened in Spanish, the default Joomla language, Right ? While on my tests is opened in English... Why ? Do you have any idea on why its happening ? Please, How to correct it ?

1C - You wrote: "We not support "browser language". I'm a little bit surprised, because Bing and Google codes detect the browser language:
- Bing Translator = www.bing.com/widget/translator
- Google Translator = translate.google.com/manager/website/add?hl=it
Please, Is it so hard to add this feature integrated with the joomla "System - Language Filter" plugin feature ?

1D - Please, Can you help me on understand How should work the SEF Translate module ?

2 - Tested on both Bing and GTranslate: when I select, for example, Italian, the selector switch into italian, but not all the words !

2A -You worte: "This is Automatic API..."
It's a little bit strange because I tested simply adding the codes for:
- Bing Translator = www.bing.com/widget/translator
- Google Translator = translate.google.com/manager/website/add?hl=it
and they are running without any issue... Are you sure about your API code ? Seem that there is something that it's causing the issue... Do you have any tests suggestments ?

2B - You wrote: "..., but in Pro version - you may edit translated pages"
Please, Do you mean that with the Pro SEF Translate version I can edit also the SEF Translate module selector ?

3 - Thanks ! I still think is a must for a Translator Extension (with .svg icons to support full responsive).
Do I have to report this into the Features Requests ?

4 - How to come back to the Joomla default language ? "If your site default language " Frontend language Spanish". I included (show) Spanish in SEF Translate module and seem to work.
Now, when I click on Italian and then on Spanish in the SEF Translate module selector the Joomla Spanish default site is shown without any automatic translation, Am I right ? Please, Can you confirm it ?

4A - "We created "Select Language" as default HTML Select tag, this tag not support images, It not support click by default, for change it - you need select something"
That's ok, but in first of all my request was to change the "Select a language" words with the default Joomla frontend language ("Spanish" in my example). In other words "Select a Language" could be deleted and replaced directly with Joomla default frontend language. Is it possible ?

4B - This is default HTML Select tag - so it not so beautiful, but it will work on any device and will not conflict with any your extensions.
I'm agree, but it is not entirely true. The world is mobile and the words "Select a Language" just to select a language is really too much space and not mobile responsive, considering that we would ask it with "en, es, cn, it etc." and/or through icons. About "saving space" this selector is a good example (icon + tld):
www.flixbus.de/
Please, using your extension we have to consider to task a "Module position layout" customization to our external developer to have it more "mobile responsive". Do you have any API / documentations / instructions / suggestions to do it ?

Many Thanks for your support on understanding

Dear

SefTranslate(ordasoft.com/Real-Estate-Manager-Software-Joomla.html) - is not miracle stick, it only translate your site text from one language to another. Not more.

1A - Joomla > Plugins > System - Language Filter: ...Should be enabled or disabled ?
Language Filter - need for build "Multi language joomla native site"

1B - My unexpected behaviour is: the Site is opened in Spanish
If you use jQuery - for translate - we save old language to cookie and translate your site to this language again if you again open this site
If you use Instant translate - we use translate.google.com for translate, so default behavior move from there.

1C - You wrote: "We not support "browser language".
For me look very bad when google show to me sites Or on English, or on Russian or .....

2 - Tested on both Bing and GTranslate: when I select, for example, Italian, the selector switch into italian, but not all the words !
Please return to your question "1C"

2A -You worte: "This is Automatic API..."
I said again: This is Automatic API
Sorry, we only for Pro Version clients, ready create small test tools, where they will can test some phrases translate.
So clients will can direct communicate with API developers about errors with API

Please, Do you mean that with the Pro SEF Translate version I can edit also the SEF Translate module selector ?
All our product "open source" - you may change all.

Andrew
