Disable 'extend group registration' 4 Years ago
Karma: 0
I have installed Simple Membership and find it does everything that I need it to. Thank you.

I am only using it to allow guests to register on my blog, comment on posts, talk within the site and subscribe to any content that I add.

I only have a single membership tier - registered - and its free.

1. Is this non-expiring by default?
2. How can I disable the 'extend the registration' link in the display panel?
3. Is there a way to display the users profile picture next to the welcome message when they are logged in?
4. Is there any way to subscribe to content from specific categories?

Many thanks.

Hello

I will reply from last questions

4. Is there any way to subscribe to content from specific categories?
In Simple Membership - component for Joomla Users manage You cab create so many Subscribe groups as you wish. These Users groups may be free or Pro.
There you select to which Joomla User group - user will approved after registration.

Next when you in another Joomla component create some content. In most case - you may set: who can access to this content.
If we say about "Joomla articles", in Every "category for Joomla article" and in every article you see param "Access", so there you set who can access to this article.
Connect Joomla User groups with "Access" or create new access you may in joomla admin->Users->Access level

3. Is there a way to display the users profile picture next to the welcome message when they are logged in?
If you say about "Greeting" section in login module - NO, we haven so settings
But in Login module you have settings "Redirect after login". So you may create menu to user profile, and n it show user photo. And redirect user, after login, to self profile

2. How can I disable the 'extend the registration' link in the display panel?
Sorry, now we haven't so settings

1. Is this non-expiring by default?
No, non-expiring, but you may hide this "user group" with help component settings, and show only "expiring User groups"

Hi, and thank you for answering my questions.

4. I think that you are describing here how to SEE articles from a category. I want everybody to be able to see all articles. But I would like a user to get an email if they like one category. If one category is 'movies' then I want a user to be able to get an email when I publish an article in the 'movies' category, but not when I post an article in the 'cars' category.

I think that this is not possible.

3. Yes, the greeting section when a user is logged in. OK, no problem.

2. I have looked to see if I can find this in the files online so that I can remove it from the system, but I cant find it. Can you tell me where this link is located in the files? If a user clicks this link, and there is only one type of user category, what will it do? It will do nothing?

1. That's fine, thank you. I want only non-expiring groups, so I am happy with what I currently have.

Thank you again.

Hello

get an email when I publish an article in the 'movies' category,
If articles on your site will not very many. You may check "Acymailing" component.
You may create "Email templates" for new article issues and send email "when new article appear"

2. I have looked to see if I can find this in the files
{your site}/modules/mod_simplemembership_login/tmpl/default.php

Please find and remove below code:
Code:

 <li><a href="index.php?option=com_simplemembership&task=getMail">Extend the group registration</a></li>

Please backup this file first
