V.M. upgrade and tags 9 Years, 4 Months ago

In test environment i tried to upgrade VM from version 3.0 to the new 3.3.
Components and plugins do not automatically recognize an existing update so I tried to do it manually. As I have customized some tags from label language menu, I want to keep those changes. I installed the new VM from Joomla extension manager but the result is that all the frontend tags and backend VM menu labels are displayed as the constant and not the values (eg _VEHICLE_MANAGER_LABEL_PRICE_TYPE: , _VEHICLE_MANAGER_LABEL_ISSUE_YEAR
In laguages shows English twice. I tried to fix it from my DB importing the old table in vehiclemanager_const_languages but nothing happened.

What's the best way to do the upgrade without losing the settings and language customizations?

Thanks!

The documentation describes how to upgrade to Pro. Is there any documentation to ugrade from 3.0 to 3.3? After upgrade all settings are reseted, in language I see two "English" options (old and new) and menu and some other labels are displayed with their constant _VEHICLE_MANAGER_... and not the value.
For example

Perhaps something has to reload in database but I haven't found any documentation.
I note that the above are in test environment with the free VM versions.
How could the upgrade to the latest version (not Pro) can be done without lose data or settings?

Thanks

Hello,

You can try in this way In admin area go to VehicleManager :: Settings - Update current version of component: choose Yes. Then go Extension Manager: - Manage - and uninstall your component - then using Extension Manager install the latest version.

Note: Before make any upgrades, please make the backup of your website and database.

Thank you Taras for the fast answer!!
Uninstalling the old version will cause loss of my data. What is the upgrade process or what backup should I do to save and restore to the new version my:
  • settings

  • language values customizations

  • vehicles (with data and images)?

Is there an option like this or I have to set these from scratch?

Thanks

Hello,
Note: Before make any upgrades, please make the backup of your website and database.

Full save so files and folders:
{yours site}/administrator/components/com_vehiclemanager
{yours site}/components/com_vehiclemanager

Please do full dataBase backup.

Then go to [VehicleManager] [Settings Backend] and set [Update] to “YES”

The uninstall basic component and install your version.

Please recove folders
{yours site}/components/com_vehiclemanager/edocs
{yours site}/components/com_vehiclemanager/photos

Also you will need upgrade all plugins and modules.

And all will work.
At first please check Upgrade process at test site !!!
