Translating the breadcrumbs?

Translating the breadcrumbs? 14 Years, 8 Months ago

Hi, there,
I'm trying to translate the breadcrumbs, which in booklibrary case are the categories! I'm using self-made content element for JoomFish, but booklibrary categories can be translated without writing a content element, you can use the build in category content element to translate them and it does work. All my categories are translated when I'm browsing them, but the breadcrumbs are always the same (when I say the same, I mean in their original form when they were created, so if a category is created in English it does appear in English in the breadcrumbs pathway, if it is in french (lets say) it appears in frech).

Is there someone else who has the same need (to use translated breadcrumbs), and is there a easy way, or if it's not, where exactly is the problem?

Regards!

In forums wrote (we not checked) :

To see some changes in the pathway, go
J!F translation > modules > choose Breadcrumbs (that is pathway module).

Thanks,

I've already tried it - doesn't work that way! There is something in BookLibrary code which is getting only the typed categories, probably hardcoded, don't know, but it is in booklibrary pathway function somewhere.

Hi,

I tried show for you how other try do that(sorry I not checked that).

Every component self create path for Breadcrumbs. We build it with help Categories Name. You can try check how that problem resolve in other components (e.g. Virtue mart)

Or you can Turn Off that module for BookLibrary

Also all Category in BookLibrary we save to common Joomla category table.

So if you in JomFish - do translate for all BookLibrary categories - you in Breadcrumbs will see translated names

That's exactly what I'm doing - translating the categories, and it does work, but not for breadcrumbs!

The categories are translated, and when I'm lets say Category1, and I'm viewing its subcategories, everything is translated, and I can control the translation by using the country flags, which are switching site language. If you aren't getting my point, I'll capture my screen and post it to you.
