Hi Nancy,
"checked out" - that some other also edit book. or some thing other not save book after do edit it.
Need for save edit book from two persons
"lent out" - that if you have real book. You may give that book for read to some body. So you set for so book status "Lent out" and date/time "from - to" when that book "Lent out"
