Hi,

I'm evaluating Joomla and CCK for a project and everything was going well until I started trying to use the field editor.

In my show instance layout, I do not want the alias to be displayed and so I unchecked the "show field alias" box in the field editor on the right and clicked apply. This worked for two fields. After two fields have been edited, attempting to edit any other field options fails and the layout will not save. The apply, save and exit, and cancel buttons become inoperable any time the field editor opens.

If I hit refresh, I can sometimes save the layout (sans field changes) and I can add more fields, but once two fields have had their settings changed, doing anything that even causes the field editor to open will prevent any subsequent changes from being saved.

Sometimes refreshing doesn't work and I have to go to the Global Check-In and check in where pspb5_os_cck_layout table is waiting to be checked in.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a resolution? I've deleted layout(s) several times and even set the virtual machine back to a blank joomla, but the problem persists and always happens after two fields in one layout (it doesn't matter which fields) have had an option changed.

This has happened in the show all instances layout and the rental request layouts also.

Hoping someone has seen this before and can advise a solution.

This is a test environment on a virtual machine, so there's not really a way to give you access.

The problem happens in the show instance layout, the add instance layout, and the add rent request form layout. I can also recreate it in the test layouts that came with the installation.

To recreate the problem:
create a new show instance layout.
Give it a name
Add a field
click on the field and uncheck Show field alias
Add another field
click on the new field and uncheck Show field alias
Add a third field
click on the new field and uncheck Show field alias
Add a fourth field
click on the new field and uncheck Show field alias

At this point, you will not be able to apply, save and exit, or cancel.

You download new version and check. We now running new version OS CCK(ordasoft.com/cck-content-construction-kit-for-joomla.html) with many new features. We not release it yet, but you may download.
And if you will can reproduce this error, you will write to us again

I downloaded the new version and installed it on a fresh joomla39 installation.

With the new version, the problem is still there, but I was also unable to add an instance through the web page after creating an add instance, layout and assigning it to a menu item.

Edit: after adding an instance through the back end, in the admin control panel, I was then able to add one via my form on the front side. Just thought I would share that.

I think I've solved it.

php mbstring wasn't enabled. I enabled it and reloaded apache and I just edited 4 fields in the same layout.

I'll report back if the problem occurs again in a different layout.
