BookLibary Component Support

hello dear folks, goood day all friends of this superb component - the graet book-librarey.


i have a fresh install of joomla 1.7.2

i tried to install booklibrary - com_booklibrary_1.6_Basic_2_1_2011_11_05.zip

i get serious errors -

Component Install: Another component is already using directory: /home/vhost/WWW/literaturen.org/components/com_booklibrary
Error installing component

but the files were installes (in some way - they reside in the component directory ....

/home/vhost/WWW/literaturen.org/components/com_booklibrary


also the tables on the db were created

vjl1p_booklibrary
vjl1p_booklibrary_categories
vjl1p_booklibrary_lend
vjl1p_booklibrary_lend_request
vjl1p_booklibrary_main_categories
vjl1p_booklibrary_review
vjl1p_booklibrary_suggestion
vjl1p_booklibrary_version



but unfortunatley i have no view in the component menu.

do i have to activate the compontent somewhere.

please help me - i look forward to hear from you

Above all; keep up this great work - this is one of the most attracitve component i ever saw.
it is one of the most fantastic component. Keep up this superb thing!

My first thing to check would be to see if it is already listed as "installed" in joomla.
I bet it is already listed there. Just go the manage Tab in Extension Manager and see if it listed . if it is, just tick it and select uninstall. then try to install the component again .

meanwhile I have tried to install the booklibrary on a second site - and i was lucky - i managed to install it correctly on a second site... - (/a total fresh installed 1.7.2) -

i also did the setup in the backend. I have entered the data with the amazon-connectors passwords etc.

Well - my question - how to proceed: what do i need to go on. How to get the thing running on my small site?

What do i need to do - to make the sample-books that are allready shipped with the default installation!? Where do i have to
make some fields in the joomla-settings. I guess that i have to configure the Joomla - in order to add some fields / that are reserved for the book-library.

Can anybody assist here - and give me a helping hand. _(i can provide you with the login data to the site

Hi Firstuser,

I not know BookLibrary installed on yours first site.
May be yo ufirst install free version and now try pro - with out remove first version

You meed go to "Extension manager" and remove BookLibrary component
If that not help - you need remove below folder with help FTP, and try reinstall Book library component again

Folders for remove

{yours site}/administrator/components/com_booklibrary
{yours site}/components/com_booklibrary

first of all - thx for checking the installation - and for writing back! GREAT SUPPORT here -


i also did a check - the files were in the folders. Nothing wrong here - but wait: I have very very special server-conditions. I have the www-run-issue. My admin does not allow suPHP / or PHP as CGI or FastCGI. He only allows the SETGIT-BIT-solution and therefore i have to accept the wwwrun - as a user.


Back to the issues i had: Well i have figured out that on one site (a 1.7.2 ) with fresh install - the tables werent created correctly. The main issue was:


the installation was not done propperly

i had missing entries namely in the following parts

Besides the 8 tables of the bookLibrary were being created - but not filled with data,.

id fixed this db-things manually - and now i hope that all goes nice!


Again - keep up this superb work - the book-library is one of the most exciting things for Joomla.
Andrew .- you have hundreds (/or better thousands of excited and happy friends all over the globe) They love this superb extension for its feature-rich and great looking and powerful options.

Hello Martin,

I am sorry, but all Menu items - must create automatically at install time from - BookLibrary install package. There are some thing bad else.
Because that very good work at all other sites.
