Hello,

I just switched from the free version of Book Library to the Pro version.
Now, when I try to change any Frontend or Backend settings I receive this error message:

Warning: fopen(./components/com_booklibrary/admin.booklibrary.class.conf.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /is/htdocs/wp1103301_0L1VIVHKHU/www/cms/administrator/components/com_boo...ary.class.others.php on line 219
Cannot create configuration file.

Is this something I can resolve myself?

Hello,

Ordinary that happened because some body manual change file /folder permission.

For now bookLibrary component can't access to admin.booklibrary.class.conf.php.

Please check permission for this file and folder - where it located file/folder permission must be exactly like for other yours site files

thanks

All folders are in CMOD 755, all php files in CMOD 640. I didn't change or adjust anything after using the install routine for components of Joomla.

I now changed all php files in the admin section to 755, but this didn't help.

Could you please tell me which file/folder is supposed to have what permission?

Hello,

I can't say for you what permissions you need set. on different hosting it different, because that I said "Please set exactly as on other file"

If you check row 219 - you will see:
$fd = fopen("./components/com_booklibrary/admin.booklibrary.class.conf.php", "w" )
or die ("Cannot create configuration file.";

so yours site can open that file for writing

Can you show that to yours host provider ?

Thanks,

My hosting provider doesn't feel any responsibility for third party components used in Joomla.

So I deleted my Joomla 1.5.x and installed Joomla 2.5.x, and when I try to install the component now, Joomla doesn't even install it. I get an error message in the admin panel

Component Install: DB function reports no errors

No matter if I choose Upload Package file, Install from directory or Install from URL, I end up with an "Error installing component" warning.
