I just did the duplicate of importing the same cvs file at home using XAMP on mac and it worked flawlessly
could it be my hosting provider at freehostia mysql?

I noticed the tables in mysql in freehostia were using latin1 collation so i changed it to utf8 general ci and didnt work.
Just to let you know that freehostia installed joomla automatically as a module when i created the website.
It is the latest one too.
So im thinkings its the database now. I have email customer support at freehostia.

I'm still having issues with a joomla component which writes data from amazon to the mysql tables.
it works at home on local server but here it does not.So i email support and this is what they tell me.

The reason for this problem to occur is that there is a restriction set for outgoing connections performed. This restriction is valid only for the free hosting service that we offer. You will be able to remove the restriction in question only via an upgrade to a paid hosting package using the Change Plan menu of your hosting account Control Panel.
