If I try to add a new author with the surname O'Donaghue ie with an apostrophe I get an error on screen which says:

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Donaghue%'' at line 4 SQL=SELECT id,langshow FROM #__booklibrary_authors WHERE authors_name LIKE '%O'Donaghue%'

You can not add author with an apostrophe.

We can not allow to add author with an apostrophe, because it influence of security of website.


Please, do not use apostrophe in names of authors.

Can I ask why you wouldn't use mysql_real_escape_string to deal with characters that need escaping please?

We used mysql_real_escape_string, but it has conflicts with other function.

So, we can offer next: we will find solution for you, we will update component and you will be able add apostrophe, but for this need some.

During one week we will send You new version.

In this version we make possible add apostrophe.
