The quickstart free agent template has an area for the logo. But if I remove the image the area is still occupied.

How do I completed shrink that area?

if you look at the image in my previous email you can understand what I want to accomplish - remove the tall, vertical blank white space from top to bottom which also includes the words "logo".

If someone removes the image logo it remains there with the words "logo".

That is annoying and useless and takes up a lot of left-side space.

these 2 full differents Joomla free real estate templates.

From freeestate - template you can't remove left side bar with out lost other template positions.
for that you need change index.php file in template folder, so you will need also change all blocks.
