The component uninstaller for Media Library basic is greyed out and unavailable in my Joomla 1.5.23 backend. Have manually deleted the component and admin component folders, but the component STILL shows up in the admin menu item. I've NEVER encountered this particular problem with any component. Where do I look for residual files to wipe out the menu traces.

Hello,
May be you have some file permission change or other - because that - you was can't remove ours component.
Will be best if you will describe how we can reproduce that.
For remove Menu items: please open yours database with help phpMyAdmin or other, find table jos_components and in it remove all rows items with option "com_medialibrary"
