Can't find a solution to display a quantity box on a product detail page or
on the featured products/most popular products pages.

Its a template issue, when the site is switched back to beez2 the quantity box appears.

The quantity code is present in
/templates/ordasofttemplate-ecofoodtemplate/html/
com_virtuemart/productdetails/default_addtocart.php

and in

/components/com_virtuemart/views/
productdetails/tmpl/default_addtocart.php

This line of code in style.css caused my problem:

span.quantity-box, span.quantity-controls{
display: none;}
