I go to Simple Membership Component, approve of myself (Super User) and am immediately redirected to the Administrator home page where I must login again. Unfortunately, I can't log in because I must have approved of myself as a simple user.

I have already deleted the site and am starting over but would like to know: Is there any way to undo this error in case I inadvertently do it again?

You need go to OS Simple Membership -
Joomla Membership Extension and Synchronize Joomla Users with Simple Membership.
