For add self new fields you need very best know PHP, Joomla MySql
We in Vehicle Manager(ordasoft.com/vehicle-manager-joomla-automotive-extension) have 10 extra fields which you may enable in settings and show in every vehicle.
But you may also use our CCK (ordasoft.com/cck-content-construction-kit-for-joomla.html) there you may create any site like an like Vehicle manager, with layouts which will look exactly as you wish and there you may add any fields as you need.
